About Vanthay Hong

Vanthay Hong is an immigrant from Siem Reap, Cambodia. When he first arrived in the United States, Vanthay spent many hours in the English as a Second Language classroom during third and fourth grade. From a young age, Vanthay had a passion for soccer and writing. Vanthay graduated high school with honors and earned a Division I soccer scholarship. His passion for soccer led Vanthay to co-found a soccer-based nonprofit with childhood friends called Spam FC Scholarship Foundation. Its mission is to provide access and support to students pursuing post-secondary education by providing financial aid and a network of support.

Vanthay is extremely proud of his mixed Khmer and other Southeast and South Asian roots. He uses his passion for writing to share his own immigrant stories and experience living in the United States.

In addition to writing, Vanthay has spent the last decade working for Big 4 consulting firms delivering analytics, risk, governance, and cybersecurity solutions to clients within financial services industry.

He currently resides in East Harlem, New York.
